GAMBIER – Doug Misarti, coach of the Kenyon College men’s lacrosse team, announced that Patrick Groschan was hired as the program's defensive assistant coach for the upcoming 2023 season.
Groschan joins Misarti and offensive assistant coach C.J. Hughes at the helm of an Owls team that went 14-4 (8-1 NCAC) last season and finished as the runners-up in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.
Prior to joining the Owls, Groschan was an assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Centre College, an NCAA DIII institution in Danville, Ky., from 2021-22. Groschan’s primary duties with the Colonels included coaching the defense, working with the goalies and recruiting-student athletes. The team finished with a 9-6 mark and was 6-0 in the Southern Athletic Association.
Groschan was the boy’s lacrosse coach at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pa., from 2019-21. He came to Bishop McDevitt after a 2-year stint as the North Regional and Goalie Director for True Lacrosse Minnesota. Groschan served as an assistant coach at North Central University, an NCAA DIII institution in Minneapolis, from 2017-18. His first coaching stint was at his prep alma mater, Calvert Hall College High School, in Towson, Md., from 2015-17.
Originally from the Baltimore area, Groschan played at Eastern University in Philadelphia after a successful prep career at Calvert Hall. While at Eastern, Groschan garnered First Team All-Conference honors from the Middle Atlantic Conference in 2014 as the starting goalie, helping the Eagles claim the MAC title and secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. He was part of three MAC championship teams during his Eastern career.
Groschan graduated from Eastern in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management.
