MOUNT VERNON – Dakota Lee “Cody” Phillips, 31, of Newnan, Georgia, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1991, in Mount Vernon.

Cody was a 2009 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and the Knox County Career Center. He never met an animal that he did not like, and could often be found cuddling on the couch with Skylar or Rufus. Cody loved fast cars and had the speeding tickets to prove it. He was a baseball fanatic, and finally got to see his Atlanta Braves win the World Series last year. Cody was passionate about his friends and family and was always trying to make them laugh. His daughter, Aubry, was the light of his life. Cody enjoyed watching Aubry play softball, taking her on daddy-daughter dates, and vacationing with her on the beach. He’ll be missed on this earth, but he’ll be forever with us in our hearts.

Cody is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kimberly and Mike Ryan; his daughter, Aubry Phillips; a sister, Hanna (Alex) Holmes; and a nephew, Ben Holmes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Rich” Phillips in 2009.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 14, from 1-3 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon, where a memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.
