The Teen Advisory Council of Knox County is hosting its annual Color for a Cause 5K to support its prevention efforts and seeks sponsors to help continue the work.

The Knox County Teen Advisory Council (TAC) is a youth-led prevention team of New Directions and the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team. TAC represents all Knox County schools, grades 9-12. TAC members are actively working to end teen dating abuse and sexual violence, as well as prevention of alcohol, tobacco and substance use among their peers. TAC members receive leadership training, gain knowledge of critical issues impacting teens, learn about the Knox County community and can participate in professional development and advocacy events.

The annual Color for a Cause takes place on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Memorial Park in Mount Vernon. The event consists of a 3.1-mile run/walk or a 1-mile run/walk as colorful, non-toxic washable powder flies. Participants cross the finish line colored like a rainbow.
