Less than an hour away sits one of the most “loved” hockey teams in America. According to a recent study, the Columbus Blue Jackets are the fourth-most loved team in hockey. A report from Betway indicated that through social listening, all major league teams were analyzed to highlight the ones with the most positive online sentiment throughout the last 12 months.
Major league sports leagues are followed by millions of dedicated fans across America, whether it’s NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, or MLS. The Betway study revealed which teams are the most “loved” across America, and which have the most significant reach on social media. The Vegas Golden Knights, which were formed in 2017, take the crown as the most loved NHL team online, having a massive online positive sentiment score of 30.50% throughout the last 12 months.
The Chicago Blackhawks, which were estimated to have the highest number of fans in 2021 and currently hold six championships, take the second-highest spot, with a positive score of 22.40%.
Following closely behind is the most consistent team in the Western Conference in the last decade, the St. Louis Blues, who rank third on the list with a 20% likeability score. The Blue Jackets and Dallas Stars make up the top five loved NHL teams. While the total of Blue Jackets followers rank in the bottom half of NHL team social media followers, their positive score ranks fourth.
Methodology
To determine the teams with the most positive online sentiment, Beltway used the Linkfluence social listening tool that crawls data on mentions across the internet from the past 12 months.
From then, Betway ranked the teams based on who's most positively talked about online. They claim that the date is accurate as of June 21.
