Days after thunderstorms swept through the area, Danville High School students and members of the community turned out June 17 to help replace the school's storm-damaged bleachers.
The new bleachers came from a school near Cleveland, where they were disassembled before being transported back to Danville.
"If we would have had to hire a company to do this it would have cost us $45,000," the school said in a Facebook post. "This is a great example of the stewardship and value of our community."
The next step is to use a concrete pad to anchor the new bleachers. "As soon as that is done, we will begin reconstructing the bleachers at the track facility," the school said in its post.
The bleachers will seat 450 people. To donate time or materials, please let the Danville Local School District know. Call 740-599-6116 or send an email to cheryl.colopy@danvilleschools.org.
"We hope to have it completed before it gets cold and have it ready for the spring track season," the school said.
