FREDERICKTOWN – The Fredericktown Senior Citizens met on Wednesday, May 11, at the Fredericktown Municipal Building on the Square. There were 20 members present to enjoy a potluck luncheon at noon. We had a prayer by Paul James and Pledge of Allegiances to our flag.

At 12:45 p.m. Phyllis Shira introduced our guest speaker. Chief Rick Lanuzza of the Fredericktown E. M. S. With Chief Lanuzza were Mike Holly and Ronny Flynn, paramedics on the squad. Chief Lanuzza demonstrated the new A. E. D. that is in the Municipal Building. This can be a life saving device and it talks you through what to do in case of an emergency. First thing is call 9-1-1. Chief Lanuzza also updated us on the past history of the E. M. S. They cover 118 square miles and in 2020, they had 291 runs by May 9. In 2021, they had 329 runs by May 9 and in 2022 they have had 373 runs by May 9. Very interesting talk and we are very blessed to have this service in our neighborhood.

Meeting was started by Secretary Margaret Ann Ruhl, who read the minutes of the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Phyllis Shira said there was no change in the Treasurer’s report.

Old business – Sue James reminded us of trips. May 18 was the trip to Wheeling, W.V. left the police station at 8:30 a.m. On June 1, 2022, the bus headed to Cleveland for the Guardians (former Indians) to play against Kansas City. This bus was full. On July 21, 2022, the bus is heading to Canton Football Hall of Fame with Hartville shopping. August 16, the bus is going to the Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens with other stops. Oct. 5, 2022, the bus will go to Columbus Veterans Memorial and Franklin Park Conservatory. And the last trip scheduled is Nov. 4, 2022, back to LaComedia Dinner Theater in Springboro for “White Christmas.” Contact Sue James for the available seats and price to attend.

New business – Only new business is planning the next month speaker. Everyone enjoyed Chief Lanuzza and wants similar speakers for the next months.

Birthdays to celebrate in the month of May were Larry Ullman (81) and Ann Ullman (78). Allsang “Happy Birthday.” No Anniversaries for April or No deaths reported. Those not present due to illness or just not able to attend were the Kopperts, Blanchards and Elaine Hillier.
