There  are lots of kids’ tennis camps out there, but what about adults who are taking up the sport or who want to improve? Offered by the Mount Vernon City Recreation Department, in association with the Kokosing Valley Community Tennis Association and U.S. Tennis Association, “Tennis 101 for Beginners” is, according to program literature, “a series of five one-hour lessons that focus on teaching adult beginners in a supportive, successful and fun way.” Former Mount Vernon Nazarene Men’s and Women’s head tennis coach Alvin Cheng will be the instructor.

Lessons will take place Mondays evenings, June 13, 20, 27, July 11 and 24. The lessons are given at the Memorial Park Tennis Courts from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Registration ends June 10. For information or registration, visit MVTennis@yahoo.com.

Late tennis lesson registration for kids

An FYI for local youths who seek tennis instruction, the Kokosing Valley Community Tennis Association’s  summer tennis lessons program starts Wednesday, June 8.  Lessons for three age groups, determined by the grade that a player will be attending starting next August run from third grade to 11th grade. The registration deadline has passed, but late registration is offered for $70. To register, contact Steve Tier at mvtennis @yahoo.com
