Snively

Community Letter of Concern to the Danville Local Schools Board of Education. In response to board President’s Letter to the Editor earlier this month which spoke of but minimized the current issues within the district.

Jason Snively has proven himself to be an unfit Superintendent for the Danville School District.  Snively has repeatedly displayed an inability to effectively guide our district which is negatively impacting the education of our students and the future of this community.

Therefore, the Community of the Danville School District declares its complete lack of confidence in Snively’s leadership and respectfully requests that the Danville School Board look into the performance of Snively in his current position as Superintendent.

This community's serious concerns and complaints include:

• Snively’s actions do not support teacher and staff retention. Toxic working conditions have led to quality educators, coaches and staff leaving our district. This is particularly concerning for a small, rural district that has chronic difficulty recruiting staff to fill positions. This directly impacts the quality of our children's education. During a statewide shortage, this is not the time to lose even more good teachers, coaches, and staff.

• Snively does not communicate honestly with the Danville School Board when discussing staff concerns, parent issues or any item that could reflect his performance negatively.

• Snively’s lack of honesty and transparency with families and the community has led to the loss of future funding stability. Many families have pulled their children from this district or decided not to open enroll to Danville  which impacts funding for our district.

• Snively has failed to facilitate and lead an environment that contributes to positive employee morale. The environment he has created through micromanagement and abuse of good staff has bled over to poor student morale and a decrease of community support.

• In Jason Snively’s Own words he said.  My mission as your superintendent and a community member is to “preserve the past, promote the present and prepare for the future”. Our belief as parents, staff, alumni and financial supporters all deeply invested in the success of this district is that as Superintendent Jason Snively is not living up to his own mission in any way shape or form.

Based on these many serious concerns and complaints, the Danville School District Community has no choice but to present this letter to the board and to declare our full support of our district teachers and staff.  We request immediate action to safeguard the education of our children and this community as a whole.

This letter is drafted and endorsed by 75 adult members of the Danville Local Schools Community. We trust you will take appropriate measures to address and mitigate these concerns. All signatures have been kept confidential to prevent retaliatory action against individuals who endorse this letter of concern.
