Central Ohio Technical College is offering a bachelor of science degree in diagnostic medical sonography (DMS), according to a news release.
It's an accelerated, 3-year program to prepare students for careers as registered sonographers, the college said.
The selective, competitive program is designed to replace the college's existing associate of applied science in DMS.
“Suggestions we received from our clinical partners, advisory committee members, employers and graduates were the building blocks for this revision,” DMS program director and associate professor Melinda Brillhart said in the release.
Applications for the program are due Aug. 15. Applicants must first be admitted to Central Ohio Technical College before applying to the DMS program.
"Sonography courses are offered in the daytime at the Newark campus only, whereas general education courses are available day or evening and at COTC’s extended campuses or online," the college said.
Students will have five clinical rotations during their second and third years. As students advance through the curriculum, they will be able to sit for their sonographer credentialing exams.
