MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Foundation has doubled its small grants award maximum to $10,000 this year, available for nonprofit organizations serving Knox County.

Additionally, small grants applications will now be accepted on a quarterly basis with deadlines of Jan. 15, April 15, June 15 and Oct. 15, with awards being announced the following month. This is a change from the foundation’s previous bimonthly deadlines.

Major grant applications for requests over $10,000 will continue to be accepted twice a year.

“The foundation is excited to offer organizations the opportunity to apply for more funding through the small grant application process, while moving to a quarterly small grant cycle will allow the grants committee ample time to review all applications,” Lisa Lloyd, program director, said in a press release.

Prospective applicants are urged to review the foundation's revised “Guidelines for Grantmaking” before completing either application to learn about the foundation’s mission, priorities for funding, criteria, grant acceptance requirements and deadlines for submission. Furthermore, first-time applicants or organizations seeking funding over $50,000 are recommended to discuss a grant proposal with the program director before applying.

Applications for both major and small grants for 2022 are now available through the foundation’s online grant portal at knoxcf.org under the “Grants and Scholarships” tab.
