MOUNT VERNON – Glenna Jean Swingley, 88, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born on July 6, 1933, in Pedro to the late Alfred and Hatty (Grubb) Arden. 

Glenna was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing in her spare time. She also worked at Java Hut in Mount Vernon amongst other jobs she enjoyed. Glenna loved bowling and camping in her younger years. Her greatest joy in life was being around her kids and grandkids. 

Glenna is survived by her children, Michael Swingley, Greg Comer and Beverly (Allen) Carper; four grandchildren; special granddaughter Jaime Endsley; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Curt Arden; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Along with her parents, Glenna is preceded in death by her husband, LeWayne “Wayne” Swingley; a son, James Swingley; a daughter, Sherry Comer; and several brothers and sisters. 

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11, from noon until the time of the funeral service starting at 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home; 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050, with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
