MOUNT VERNON – Ruth M. Hubbell, 93, of Etna, (formerly from Mount Vernon), passed away at Mount Carmel East on Jan. 2, 2022. She was born on May 28, 1928, to Birt and Louella (McCormick) Hulse in Morrow County.
Ruth was a member of Gay Street United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women for many years. She owned a flower shop in Pataskala. She also worked for eye doctors Block and Downey and as a clerk for the USPS. Ruth lived all over central Ohio including Centerburg, Mount Vernon, Pataskala, Mansfield and Etna.
Ruth is survived by her children, sons Roger (Sally) Hubbell of Etna and Bill Hubbell of Gulf Shores, Ala.; a daughter, Marilyn Hanna of Greer, S.C.; six grandchildren and their spouses; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlin D. Hubbell, whom she married on May 2, 1945; five brothers, Lawrence, Gerald, Leo, Hubert and Demorest Hulse; five sisters, Goldie Kelly, Gladys Farie, Jean Hite, Lorena Hookway and Louise Robertson; and a great-granddaughter, Sawyer Rose Hubbell.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 9, from 3-5 p.m. at the Flowers - Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. The family will have a private burial of ashes at Bloomfield Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date at Gay Street United Methodist Church.
