MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Commissioners have appointed William “Scott” Boone as interim director of the Knox County Department of Job and Family Services. Boone has been with the agency for five years, first as the Children's Services administrator before being promoted to assistant director in June 2018.

“I am incredibly honored to be appointed as the Interim Director of Knox County Job and Family Services,” said Boone. “The confidence that the Commissioners have instilled in me to assume this tremendous responsibility is both humbling and invigorating. This is a ‘get to’ job, not a ‘got to job.’ I get to come to the office every day and work with the most talented and dedicated group of staff that I have ever encountered. I get to partner with a wide variety of strong and intelligent leaders committed to family safety, well-being and permanency. I get to continue to fulfill our agency’s mission dedicated toward making the lives of Knox County families better. I get to embrace the belief that there is value in everyone, and I get to lead an organization that has the ability to connect individuals and families to multiple resources in order to help them reach their maximum capacities."

Boone continued, “My wife and I are so proud to call Knox County our home, and I will do anything and everything that I can to continue to serve Knox County Job and Family Services as well as our remarkable community.”

Boone, who has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work, formerly worked for Hamilton County Job and Family Services as a Children's Services case manager, Children's Services supervisor and administrative section chief, before coming to Knox County JFS.

Former director Matthew Kurtz resigned earlier this month.
