The Knox County Pomona Grange met on Monday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. The meeting was opened in regular form with 16 members and one guest present at Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange in Mount Vernon.
Members that were not present at the last meeting were installed: Ned Campbell, Steward; Cindy Campbell, Lady Assistant Steward; Janet White, Chaplain; and Belinda Litt, Executive Committee.
The Ohio State Grange Convention was completed on Oct. 3 with the installation of the new officers. Congratulations to Cindy Campbell, elected to Ceres; Dee Smith, elected to Flora; Sue Roy, elected Master/President; and Deb Hamilton, elected Secretary. Sarah Howard was appointed co-director of the State Grange Youth, and Margaret Ann Ruhl was reappointed as Ohio State Grange Legislative Director. 63 resolutions were presented to the convention. Seven resolutions were sent on to National Grange for its consideration.
Family Activities Chairperson, Mary Jewell reminded everyone to start working on the next year's projects. All contests are printed in the September/October Grange magazine.
The master/president meeting will be Sunday Oct. 24, at 4 p.m. at Morgan Grange. All of the masters/presidents from each grange meet to help plan the upcoming grange year. At the convention, we had some winners in the contests and all of the awards will be presented at the next monthly meeting. At that time, the delegates, Ned Campbell and Willis Smith, will present their participation at the convention. The Dartball League will start up in January with the State Dartball Tournament being April 2 at Fredericktown. Campbell volunteered Knox County with supplying the food. There are one-day conferences just about every Saturday from March to May; see in the Grange Magazine September/October issue. Next month, Campbell will be presenting the awards for the Grange Challenge. Pomona Grange for sponsoring the center pieces for the convention luncheon made with pumpkins, ears of corn, and flowers.
Hamilton attended the celebration of Seneca County Granges last Saturday. The granges were celebrating 101 years of existence with a spaghetti and lasagna dinner.
Lecturer Willis Smith read some interesting facts about the month of October. After grange, there will be a unique bingo for all to participate in during the visit.
Next meeting will be the Harvest Night Out with all awards and delegate report at Wayne Grange. The date will be Monday, Nov. 15, starting at 7 p.m.
