The Knox County Pomona Grange met on Monday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m. The meeting was held at Morgan Grange Hall with the Worthy Master Marie Walker presiding. Present were 20 members and one guest.
Election of officers for the next fiscal year of Oct. 1, 2021, to Sept. 30, 2022, are as follows: Master Lonnie Totten; Overseer Dave Morey; Lecturer Will Smith; Steward Ned Campbell; Assistant Steward Ed Moore; Lady Assistant Steward Cindy Campbell; Chaplin Janet White; Gatekeeper Etta Arnholt; Treasurer Margaret Ann Ruhl; Secretary Dee Smith; Pomona Terri Moore; Ceres Cathy Morey; Flora Priscilla Arnholt; Executive Committee Belinda Litt, Marie Walker and JoAnn Walton. The new officers will be installed at the September meeting.
Dee Smith reported an increase of about $2,000 on fair pop sales over 2019. Thank-yous were written to CES Credit Union for sponsoring our golf cart to use throughout the week and Robertson Trucking for use of a refrigerated truck to help cool the pop and water. Suggestion of adding bottled ice tea to the beverages to sell next year.
Congratulations to Smith for receiving the lifetime membership to the Knox County Fair. Well deserved as she and her family works hard at getting the pop stands opened and all of the supplies. Smith can be seen at the Fair board meetings on a regular basis.
Legislative Chairperson Sue Roy reported on the Ohio State Grange Zoom legislative meeting and reminded that all resolutions are requested to the Ohio State Grange office by Sept. 1. Also reminder that we are, as a grange, in favor of COVID shots.
Certificate and letter of appreciation was read by Margaret Ann Ruhl from the Buyer's Club for our donation to the Junior Fair livestock sale. Reminder that the Community Service report, Deaf Activities report and Family Activities report are due Sept. 1 to the respective chairpersons.
Family Activities Chairperson Mary Jewell and County Deputy Cindy Campbell reported on the judging of the crafts and photos. Since there was no judging last year due to the pandemic, the photos and crafts made last year 2020 winners were: Crafts - Preserving Our Heritage - Lonnie Totten; Something to Wear - Margaret Ann Ruhl and for 2021 Preserving our Heritage - Cindy Campbell; Baby Afghan - Etta Arnholt; Rock a by Baby - Etta Anrholt; Something to Wear - Loretta Crego and Tin Can Entry - Priscilla Arnholt. 2021 Spring Fling Entry - Priscilla Arnholt. Campbell thanked Deb Hamilton for judging the entries.
All Grangers are to receive the September/October grange magazine in the mail this time; complete the back page and return it with your $5 to help cover mailing costs for future issues.
Oct.1 will be the last date to collect pill bottles.
Etta Arnholt challenged everyone to have two new members at the next meeting. Refreshments were served by Morgan Grange.
Next meeting is 7 .m. Sept. 20 at Wayne Grange. It will be the installation of officers.
