The Knox Substance Abuse Action Team (KSAAT) invites the community to a series of educational events throughout the month of August. The events seek to reduce stigma, encourage intervention conversations, enhance life-saving skills and provide support to families. All events are free to attend. Participants can register online at ksaat.org/ksaat-calendar.

Aug. 19, noon-1 p.m., Ramser 4H Activity Center– Meth, Heroin and the Human Body, presented by New Vision.

Aug. 26, noon-1 p.m., Ramser 4H Activity Center – Narcan Education and Distribution, presented by Knox Public Health.

Aug. 31, 7 p.m., Ramser 4H Activity Center – International Overdose Awareness Day, presented by KSAAT, the Freedom Center, Hospice of Knox County, Knox Community Hospital, Main Place and Riverside Recovery. Join us to remember those lost to overdose and to show support to individuals and families who have lost their loved ones and friends.

Since this article was first published, the meeting places for all of these events has been moved to the Ramser 4H Activity Center, at 700 Perimeter Drive, Mount Vernon.
