MANSFIELD – GOAL Digital Academy has been offering students in Central Ohio a different learning experience than traditional school for almost 20 years and is pleased to announce that enrollment for the 2021/2022 school year is open to the public for students in grades K through 12.
GOAL’s unique approach to school involves a blended model of learning where students learn online but also receive face-to-face adult support to help them learn, set goals and prepare for their futures. Students enrolled at GOAL do not simply move from a traditional classroom to online platforms, but rather have the option to develop relationships with GOAL’s dedicated and experienced staff.
GOAL students are required to live within 25 miles of a lab but can choose to work at home or at one of eight labs across Central Ohio, where the staff are available to tutor, guide and motivate students to set goals and achieve them. GOAL has labs in Mansfield, Galion, Newark, Delaware, Cardington, Marion and Mount Vernon.
Students who are identified as having language arts or math delays can access additional support in resource rooms at each location. The curriculum is aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards, and GOAL also offers credit flexibility, dropout prevention and credit recovery programs for high school students.
Jessica Caughlan, GOAL director of partnerships and family engagement, said it focuses on much more than just a student’s academic achievement. “We know that good mental health is a crucial component to a student being able to learn effectively. We want to help students in every way we can, so we have counselors available to students when they need a safe place to talk.”
The 2021-22 school year starts Aug. 25, but students can enroll all year long. Parents interested in enrolling their students at GOAL need to go to the website, https://www.goaldigital.org/, and fill out the forms online. Once enrollment is complete, an orientation time will be set up at the nearest lab. During orientation, all GOAL students receive a Chromebook that has a WiFi hotspot connection for their studies.
Parents with questions about enrolling their students can reach out to Judy Mitchell, enrollment specialist, at 419-468-5805 or jmitchell@mygda.org.
