William Robert Small, a 2020 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, has received the 30th annual Scholarship in Agriculture for 2021, Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange No. 847 of Mount Vernon announced.
Small was involved with FFA and 4-H for many years. At MVHS, he was also involved with varsity football, baseball, basketball, Big Sibs Program, National Honor Society and Key Club. He has also worked with the Kokosing River clean-up, volunteered at Kenyon College and completed over 150 hours job shadowing Dr. Scott Harmon of Fredericktown. He is currently attending the University of Findlay, where he has a dual major in animal science/pre-veterinary medicine and biology and is a member of the football team. He is the son of Robert and Andrea Small of Gambier.
Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange is a local branch of the National Grange, the nation's oldest organization devoted to advancing the interests of agriculture. As a family fraternity, it uses this $500 scholarship as a community service project to encourage area youths in agriculture.
