Each of Utica’s nine batters drove in a run to lead the way in a 19-3 win in five innings over Fairfield Christian in a non-league baseball game on Tuesday, April 20, at American Legion Post 92 Field.
Josh Dillon, Hunter Billman, Collin McCullough and Roman Gamble had two hits apiece. Dillon, McCullough and Gamble each scored three runs; and Lincoln Valentine drove in three to lead Utica, which pushed its winning streak to five games.
Jackets sweep Rams in OCC play
Trenton Kane-Sapp struck out six in a two-hit shutout, and host Mount Vernon rolled to a 12-0 win in five innings over Mansfield Madison in Ohio Cardinal Conference play on Thursday, April 22.
The win gave the Yellow Jackets a sweep over Madison this week. Owynn Gleason and Blake Meyer hit back-to-back RBI triples in the third inning to give Mount Vernon the lead for good in a 9-2 win over the Rams on Tuesday, April 20, in Mansfield.
Dayne Burgess hit a bases-loaded triple to key a seven-run second inning for the Jackets in Thursday’s game. He finished with four RBIs on two hits and Konner Daughriety added two hits and two RBIs for Mount Vernon, which scored five times in the third inning to account for the final margin.
Meyer finished with four hits, three RBIs and a run in Tuesday’s game; and Caden Rowland allowed two unearned runs over five innings to pick up the win for the Jackets, who scored four runs in the fourth.
East Knox 11, Cardington 5
Weston Melick and Bryar Householder drove in two runs apiece to lead East Knox to an 11-5 win at Cardington in Knox Morrow Athletic Conference play on Thursday, April 22.
Melick had three hits and scored three runs to lead the Bulldogs.
Nate Hickman went for three hits to lead the Pirates. He drove in two runs and scored once.
Centerburg 14, East Knox 11
Trey Kendrick hit a two-run double as part of a six-run third inning to give Centerburg the lead for good. The host Trojans outslugged East Knox 14-11 in KMAC play on Tuesday, April 20.
Kendrick also walked twice and scored three runs; and Dakota Baer had three hits, three runs and an RBI for the Trojans.
Householder had four hits, two runs and an RBI; and Melick had three hits and scored three runs to lead the Bulldogs.
Fredericktown 11, Danville 1 (5)
Lincoln Cunningham and Brady Lester had three hits each to lead Fredericktown to an 11-1 win in five innings over visiting Danville in KMAC play on Tuesday, April 20.
Cunningham drove in three runs and scored twice, and Lester scored three runs for the Freddies, who led 6-1 after one inning and 10-1 after two.
Bryce Colopy singled home Dustin Beckett, who led off the game with hit, to account for the Blue Devils’ only run.
Highland 14, Mount Gilead 1 (5)
Zack Davidson drove in Owen Blanton with a hit to give Mount Gilead a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
But Highland scored six runs in the third inning and added eight more in the fourth to roll to a 14-1 win in five innings in KMAC play on Tuesday, April 20, in Sparta.
Dom Carter had three hits, Luke Cain scored three runs and Blake Jodrey struck out seven over four innings to lead the Fighting Scots.
