The freshman cracked two home runs and drove in four runs at the plate and went the distance for the win in the circle for the Pirates (6-0, 3-0).
Chelsey Miller hit a grand slam in the first inning to stake Cardington to a 4-0 lead, and Longsdorf took over from there.
Faith Geiger had two hits — including a solo home run — and drove in two runs to lead the Fighting Scots (10-2, 2-1).
Geiger also led host Highland with two hits and three RBIs in a 13-4 win over Utica to complete a doubleheader sweep in non-league play on Saturday, April 10.
Cass Fouty hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Utica, but Highland answered with four runs in the second to take control.
Haven Farson and Emma West each drove in three runs to lead the Scots to a 12-2 victory in six innings in Game 1.
Utica splits pair of LCL games
Fouty’s bat and Karleigh Lees’ pitching led host Utica to a 6-3 win over Newark Catholic in Licking County League play on Friday, April 9.
Fouty had two hits, including a two-run single that highlighted a five-run second inning to stake Lees to a 6-1 lead.
Lees allowed three unearned runs on five hits and four walks and struck out four in a complete-game effort.
Lakewood proved to be a much tougher task, however. The Lancers scored four times in the second inning and rolled to a 6-1 victory over Utica in LCL play on Monday, April 12, in Hebron.
Emma McLean, who had two hits and three RBIs in the game, hit a two-run single to give the Lancers the lead. Dylan Cunningham added a two-run single later in the inning and Lakewood cruised from there.
Lexi Wiegand had a hit and a run, and Kiera Williams had a hit and an RBI to lead Utica.
Devils shutdown Ridgewood in sweep
Grace Gronberg and Maddy Wine each tossed complete-game shutouts to lead host Danville to a sweep over Ridgewood in non-league play on Saturday, April 10.
Gronberg allowed three hits and six walks while striking out eight over seven innings in a 7-0 win to cap the sweep for the Blue Devils (7-1).
Taryn Mickley had three hits including a pair of doubles and drove in two runs to lead the Danville offense.
The Devils staked Wine to a big 7-0 lead after one inning, cruising to an 11-0 victory in five innings in the opener.
Wine struck out 10 batters and allowed two hits and four walks in the complete-game performance.
Gronberg homered in the first inning — a two-run shot — and Keaura Schilling added a two-run homer of her own to end it in the fifth.
Trojans drop two at Valley of Thunder
Centerburg battled, scoring all five of its runs over its final three at-bats, but the Trojans couldn’t overcome an 8-0 deficit and fell to Raceland (KY) 10-5 at the Valley for Thunder showcase on Friday, April 9, at Symmes Valley in Willow Wood.
Ironton scored three runs in the fourth inning and added three more in the fifth on its way to a 12-4 victory over Centerburg at the showcase on Saturday, April 10.
Makenna Martindale had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Trojans in Friday’s loss to the Rams, and Amelia Smith had two hits and scored twice against the Tigers on Saturday.
Freddies swept at Berne Union
Fredericktown rallied in the seventh inning to tie, but Baylee Mirgon hit a three-run homer to send host Berne Union to a 13-10 walk-off win to secure a sweep in a non-league doubleheader on Saturday, April 10.
Lainey Partington hit a two-run triple in the fifth and Taylor Overholt followed with a two-run homer to help the Freddies even the score in the top half of the inning.
Mirgon hit two home runs and doubled twice in the game for the Rockets. She drove in six runs and scored four while also picking up the win in the circle.
Overholt drove in three runs; and Partington had three hits, a walk and scored four runs but suffered the loss for the Freddies.
Addie Hedges and Hannah Parker both hit solo home runs to lead Berne Union to a 6-0 victory in five innings in Game 1.
Abbie Hintz tossed five shutout innings, holding Fredericktown to three hits and a walk.
