MOUNT VERNON – Paul D. Reiss, 78, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 8, 1943, in Mount Vernon, the son of Vearl and Edna (Hall) Reiss.
Paul graduated from Mount Vernon High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. Afterward, he was employed as a trooper for the Ohio State Highway Patrol and a deputy for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Paul worked several years for Monroe Township and eventually retired from Electric Solutions Incorporated in Columbus.
Paul was a giver and enjoyed nothing more than helping others in their times of need. He recently served as a volunteer electrician for Habitat for Humanity on several of the current projects in Mount Vernon. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beverly (Pruett) Reiss; his children, Daniel Reiss of Mount Vernon, Richard “Mike” (Kimberly) Reiss of Fredericktown, Shari (Howie) Miller of Fredericktown, Leslie (Bill) Baldwin of Mount Gilead and Lori (Stan) Stoney of Mansfield; thirteen grandchildren; two brothers, John (Carol) Reiss of Mount Vernon and Garry Reiss of Lexington; and two sisters, Marilyn Stout of Fredericktown and Janet (Paul) Brown of Mount Vernon.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050; where a funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Bloomfield Cemetery in Centerburg.
