MOUNT VERNON – Laura K. Wheeler, 64, of Mount Vernon, passed away on April 6, 2021, at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on Oct. 16, 1956, to George Reid and Edith (Skelly) Wheeler in Bedford.
Laura graduated from Danville High School and the Career Center, Class of 1974. She worked 42 years at various jobs. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and loved working in her flower garden.
She is survived by many nephews; nieces; cousins; special longtime friends; and her loving cat, Gracie-Sue.
Laura was preceded in death by her father and her sister, Celeste Wheeler Ford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laura's memory to the Mount Vernon Cat Shelter or a fire department of the donor's choosing.
The family will be observing private graveside services at Amity Cemetery.
