MOUNT VERNON – Betty June (Frye) Hannan, of Mount Vernon, passed away at the Ohio Eastern Star Home as the result of prolonged illness. She was born on April 12, 1933, to Jesse and Mary E. (Durbin) Frye.
Betty was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was a lifelong resident of Knox County and attended Gambier Schools. She and Richard Hannan were wed on Feb. 2, 1951, and enjoyed a lasting relationship until Richard’s death on Nov. 21, 2009.
Betty is survived by her sisters, Edie Cosner and Norma Magers; her four children, Glenn (Mary Lou) Hannan of Fredericktown, David (Julie) Hannan of Dayton, Connie (Terry) Sheets of Mount Vernon and Sue (Greg) Davis of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Mike (Jessica) Hannan, Matt (Melissa) Hannan, Samantha (Andrew) Phillips, Treg Davis and Jesse Ian Hannan; and great-grandchildren, Reese Hannan, Laine Hannan and Asher Phillips.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Frye, Donald Frye, Shirley Fowler, Janet Tucker and Josephine Fowler; beloved grandson, Trever Davis; great-grandson, Henry Hannan; and son-in-law, Terry Sheets.
The family expresses their appreciation to the staffs of the Ohio Eastern Star Home and the Capital City Hospice for the care that they provided.
Betty will always have a special place in our hearts, loved very much and missed greatly by her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Mr. Roger Marra officiating.
