FREDERICKTOWN – New details have emerged in the case of a man apprehended on outstanding warrants last week in Fredericktown.
Police say Matthew S. Adams, 26, broke into a house and was apprehended with the help of the Mount Vernon K9 Unit and air surveillance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP).
Adams was spotted at just after 11:00 a.m. on Jan. 10 by Fredericktown Police in the area of the Bell Store, a press release from the Knox County Sheriff's Office said. He was known to have warrants for his arrest, one involving a weapons under disability charge. After a vehicle pursuit involving Fredericktown Police and the OSP, Adams left his vehicle and fled on foot in the area of Pinkley Road and Waterford Road.
While attempting to elude officers, Adams was reported to have broken into a residence, leaving the area when confronted by the homeowner. A Mount Vernon Police Department K9 unit and OSP aviation assisted deputies in the search. At approximately 12:57 p.m., Adams was located and surrendered to officers.
He is in the Knox County Jail as the prosecutor determines whether to file additional charges.
