MOUNT VERNON – Devin R. Cline, 73, of Mount Vernon, died on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at Brookdale of Mount Vernon after an extended illness. He was born on Feb. 23, 1947, in Mount Vernon, to the late Robert R. and Edna Mae (Rudolph) Cline and had spent his lifetime in Mount Vernon.

Devin graduated from Mount Vernon High School with the Class of 1965 and attended The Ohio State University. On Dec. 6, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Connie (Dial) Cline, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage.

He retired as executive sales engineer from Gorman Rupp Industries in Bellville.

An avid car enthusiast, Devin was an early member and past president of the Pacemakers Dragway in Mount Vernon, and was a faithful member of the Good Guys Rod and Custom Car Club. He owned several classic cars in his lifetime, but his No. 1 dream was his 1932 Ford three-window coupe (Connie said she was a close second). In addition to hot rods and drag racing and motorcycles, Devin loved bass fishing. He belonged to the Kokosing Valley Bass Club and fished many tournaments around Ohio.

Devin had also been a member of a few garage bands in the 1970s and 80s.

He is survived by his wife, Connie (Dial) Cline; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Heidi Cline of Fredericktown; his grandson, Ethan Cline; his sister, Bonnie Cline of Gambier; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Philip David Dial and Toni Dial of Brinkhaven.

Devin was preceded in death by his parents.
