Wintry mix headed to the area early on New Year's Day

The U.S. National Weather Service out of Cleveland is reporting that a mix of snow/sleet/freezing rain will move into the area early Friday, Jan. 1. Snow amounts will remain below an inch, but a glaze of ice will be likely on untreated surfaces. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Friday morning, as travel may become hazardous. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON.

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of a light glaze. Greatest ice accumulations of several hundredths of an inch expected along and south of the US-30 corridor.

* WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast and northwest Ohio.

* WHEN...From 7 AM this morning to 1 PM EST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Precipitation overspreads the area from south to north around and especially after daybreak. A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will change quickly to rain as warmer air overspreads the area. Rain will likely be the predominant precipitation type by midday.
