MOUNT VERNON – Marjorie V. “Margie” Souers of 3 Park Road in Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday Nov. 17, 2020, at Whispering Hills Care Center. She was born on June 11, 1931, to Robert and Mary A. (Barnes) Brown in McKeesport, Pa.

Margie came to Ohio visiting family and met her first husband, Ralph S. Loyd, who passed away in 1964. She later married G. Paul Souers, who passed away in 2004.

Margie worked at the Woolson Company for many years and belonged to the VFW, AMVETS and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed trips to the beach and getaways to Las Vegas. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family. Margie took tremendous pride in her son Bob’s accomplishments, whom she missed immensely after his passing far too early in life. She provided her daughter Debbie with many fond memories of laughter and silliness; and she was extremely supportive of her two grandchildren, Joel and Jeremy.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Jon) Dunham of Mount Vernon; her partner of the last 12 years, Harold Henthorn; grandsons, Joel (Melissa) Kuhlman of Delaware and Jeremy (Heidi) Kuhlman of Gambier; great-grandchildren, Layne, Gage, Brady and Marin Kuhlman, and Clara and Charlie Goss; her brother, David (Debbie) Brown of Pittsburgh, Pa.; her goddaughter and niece, Lisa Benson of Trenton Mich.; as well as other nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ralph S. Loyd; second husband, G. Paul Souers; son, Dr. Robert Loyd; brother, Frank Brown; sisters, Elizabeth Lenz and Cora Mae Newman; and step-daughter, April Sievers.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
