AVON – Paige Brenner and Ellie Ruby highlighted a group of four women’s volleyball players from Mount Vernon Nazarene University that were selected to the All-Crossroads League teams Nov. 16.
Brenner, a sophomore setter, and junior libero/defensive specialist Ellie Ruby were named first team All-Crossroads League.
Junior outside hitter Nicole Winkler was named second team and junior middle hitter Tory Small was named honorable mention.
The Cougars went 6-8 overall and 6-7 in conference play this season before taking third-seeded Bethel to five sets as the six-seed in the Crossroads League quarterfinal.
Brenner had 481 assists in 51 sets played this season and the 9.4 assists per set ranked third in the league. She added 158 digs and 61 kills to her ledger.
Ruby had 305 digs in 51 sets with her 6.0 average tops in the Crossroads. She finished the season with the strongest game of her career, recording 42 digs against the Pilots in the league tourney.
Winkler also set career-highs in the final game of the season with 23 kills and 19 digs. She finished 153 kills overall in 43 sets.
Small finished the year with 96 kills and 14 blocks.
