Knox County Sheriff incident reports Oct. 28-29

The following incidents were reported by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Oct. 28

‘Soon to be ex-wife’ ordered to return ring

• Incident report - 8:10 p.m. - New Gambier Road, Mount Vernon

A woman was deemed a “soon to be ex-wife” after her husband called to report her for allegedly taking his mother’s ring.

The ring was returned after police made contact with the accused.

Vandalism reported in Howard

• Incident report - 1 p.m. - Sapps Run Road, Howard

A display of vandalism was reported on Sapps Run Road in Howard.

A deputy documented the scene for insurance purposes.

Deputy puts deer out of its misery

• Incident report - 11:25 a.m. - Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon  

“I dispatched an injured whitetail deer with one round from my duty issued,” Deputy Brandon Minot wrote in his report.

The incident code on the report is listed as “animal.”

Oct. 29

Suspicious vehicle appears to be enterprising panhandler

• Incident report- 6:39 p.m. - Glen Road, Gambier

A man may have faked his car running our of gas in order to take advantage of offers of free feel and cash from good samaritans several times on the same day.

A concerned citizen reported the incident including the vehicle’s license plate number. Deputies followed with a visit to the man’s listed residence where relatives assured them the man in question would contact them via phone.

Man arrested for drug possession at rehab

• Incident report - 1:13 p.m. - Nelson Road, Mount Vernon

Deputy was called to Behavioral Health-care Partners, a substance abuse rehabilitation center, for a mental health evaluation of one of their patients.

After the patient was transferred to Knox Community Hospital a nurse allegedly found a baggie with a crystal substance in it, which she turned over to the deputy on scene.

Phone found at Foundation Park

• Incident report - 9:29 a.m. - Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon

A concerned person turned a broken black QLink ZTE phone found in Foundation Park over to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office reported it is holding the phone for safekeeping.
