It’s a season of change. Area football teams begin preseason football practices officially on Aug. 1, though with the early start, coaches were given two additional days in July.

It is with great pleasure that Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) congratulates the following students on being named to the Winter 2021 President's List. The winter term runs from January to May.Full-time students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above are named to the President's List. The Mount Vernon girls soccer program took a big step forward.

The title of Mount Vernon native Jeannine Jannot’s new book captures its message succinctly: “The Disintegrating Student: Struggling but Smart, Falling Apart, How to Turn it Around.”

Ben Bridges has raised his game this summer. The golfer from Mount Vernon High School, who will be a junior this fall, is putting in the time and the effort and it’s showing in his game.

Will Streby of Mount Vernon finished fifth out of 42 total golfers at the Stymie Golf Supply Challenge on Tuesday and Wednesday at Turnberry Golf Course in Pickerington.

Mount Vernon varsity tennis player Quinn Hoffman unveiled his brand new stroke and it was a hit. 

On July 3, a plane returning to Ohio from Seattle sat two of the area’s best track athletes with accolades too long to list.

If the pandemic taught anything, it's that creating memories with loved ones while you can is important. It also taught that it's just as important to think of creative ways to be present in spirit where one can't be in person.

Mount Vernon’s Ben Bridges fired a 3-under par 69 on the second day of the two-day Battle at Chapel Hill to finish 1-under for the tournament, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 29-30 at Chapel Hill Golf Course.

There are no changes for the seven area football teams after the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the football region information on Tuesday.

The final curtain came down on the scholastic wrestling season back in March.

Mount Vernon High School's Class of 1975 will be having their 46th-anniversary reunion on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Gallagher Centre on Route 229 East.

The Mount Vernon Senior High School Class of 1971 has planned a two-day event to celebrate our 50th reunion, which will be held on Aug. 6 and 7.

Marengo’s Emerson Grassbaugh fired an 8-over 80, improving by six strokes, on the second day of Garsen Golf Shootout, which took place Wednesday and Thursday, June 16-17, at Darby Creek Golf Course in Marysville.

Erich Rhodeback became the third state champion in Mount Vernon school history at the OHSAA Division I state track and field championships on June 5 at Hilliard Darby.

Mount Vernon’s Erich Rhodeback ascended the podium four times, climbing his way into a pair of state berths.
