The Danville girls’ basketball team (14-6, 8-4) came away with a big 52-43 win over KMAC rival East Knox (5-13, 2-9) in front of a home crowd on Senior Night, with their upperclassmen leading the charge on both offense and defense to take the conference victory.

The Northmor boys’ basketball team picked up their fifth straight win, with the Golden Knights taking another KMAC victory over East Knox (2-13, 2-6) 61-44 on Jan. 28. Grant Bentley, Jax Wenger and Drew Hammond put up solid numbers in the game to propel the team to team to another vital win.

The East Knox boys’ bowling team recently set a KMAC and school record with 2475 points, and they are currently first in the conference at 12-0.

The East Knox Bulldogs (1-11, 1-4) have gotten into the winning column for the first time this season, dominating in a 62-43 victory over KMAC foe Danville (1-13, 0-6) on Jan. 17 in boys' basketball action.

The Freddie Invite was held on Jan. 13 with 22 teams competing, and New Philadelphia came away with the top spot with a score of 285.

The East Knox boys’ basketball team (0-9, 0-3) played their best game of the season and led much of the way, but the Ridgedale Rockets (5-3, 0-3) out-rebounded the Bulldogs and made big plays down the stretch to take a tight 57-52 win on Jan. 3.

The Cardington-Lincoln girls’ basketball team (5-4, 3-1) to their second straight win, knocking off KMAC rival East Knox (3-6, 1-3) 61-31 on Dec. 20 thanks to some dominant work on defense.

The Fredericktown boys’ basketball team (2-3, 1-1) had four players in double figures, led by a double-double performance by Trevor Bellman to beat the East Knox Bulldogs (0-6, 0-2) by a score of 62-39 in a KMAC matchup.

The East Knox girls’ basketball was at the .500 mark over the first six games of the season, but after two-point win over Northmor they have slid the past two games with the most recent loss 49-32 loss to Heath (2-4, 1-2) on Dec. 18.

The East Knox bowling team recently took on Cardington-Lincoln at Morrow Lanes for their second KMAC match of the season and came away with a big sweep. The boys’ team improved to 6-0 on the year, and 2-0 in the conference, while the girls’ team is 3-2 and 1-1 in KMAC play.

The Cardington-Lincoln boys’ basketball team has proven to be heavy hitters right from the start, knocking off East Knox (0-3, 0-1) and Elgin in blowout fashion to start the season 2-0, and 1-0 in KMAC play.

The Division VI and VII All-Ohio football teams were announced on Dec. 4 with a number of Mount Vernon News coverage area players selected.

East Knox bowling has begun, and Coach Chip Pozderac sees big things for both the boys’ and girls’ teams coming off successful seasons.

Recently, on November 14, two East Knox FFA members competed in the State Animal Management Career Development Event held in the Kasich Building at the Ohio Exposition Center in Columbus where they placed 18th out of a group of teams from across Ohio.

The East Knox FFA recently represented the state of Ohio and competed in the National FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event held in conjunction with the 96th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.

Eight members of the East Knox FFA recently attended the 96th annual National FFA Convention held November 1-4, 2023 at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis Convention Center, and Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana where they attended sessions, received awards, listened to motivational speakers, attended workshops, and took tours.

Recently, at the 96th National FFA Convention held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, East Knox FFA members Trenton Comer, Kalvin Gallwitz, Alexandria Magers, and Joci Totten received the American FFA Degree.

The Knox Morrow Athletic Conference released their All-KMAC football selections for 2023. The conference includes Cardington-Lincoln, Centerburg, East Knox, Fredericktown, Mount Gilead, Loudonville and Northmor.

No. 1 Garaway made easy work of No. 9 East Knox in the Division VI, Region 23 OHSAA football regional quarterfinals on Friday, leading by six touchdowns at halftime and never looking back in a 49-7 rout.
