The East Knox bowling team recently took on Cardington-Lincoln at Morrow Lanes for their second KMAC match of the season and came away with a big sweep. The boys’ team improved to 6-0 on the year, and 2-0 in the conference, while the girls’ team is 3-2 and 1-1 in KMAC play.
“The Bulldog-Pirate duel has been one of the best matches in the KMAC to watch, with the two teams consistently battling back and forth,” said Coach Chip Pozderac. “Going into this match, the Bulldogs were looking for redemption. Last year, the East Knox Boys suffered their only loss in an 18-1 season to the Pirates, and the Lady Bulldogs missed out on being conference champions by 1 win, finishing 2nd to last year’s Cardington Girls. Fueled by this fire, the East Knox teams were able to achieve the sweep of the Pirates.”
The boys’ team beat Cardington-Lincoln 2349-1679 in a win where they benefited off a hot start. According to Pozderac, the Bulldogs set a single team game high with a score of 1066 in the first game, which broke the former record by two pins. They had 928 points in the second game, giving them a 566 pin lead going into the baker games where they struggled. However, the scores of 203 and 152 were enough to beat the Pirates scores of 120 and 131.
Leading the way was senior Jordan Hull, who shot 235 and 212 for a series score of 447- a personal record. Senior Lane Lashley shot a 216 game and 416 overall, which was his best of the season. Dylan Reed was also at his best with a 199 game and 392 on the series. Senior Will Jensen rolled a 207 in game one, and freshman Blake Calhoon had a 215.
Pozderac had high praise for Hull’s work in the lanes and in the classroom.
“He is currently averaging 205 in all of our KMAC matches, with a 235 and a 212 against Cardington,” Pozderac said. “He holds a 4.1 GPA, while taking college classes at the Naz, and is a member of NHS and an editor of the school's yearbook.”
The girls’ team beat Cardington-Lincoln 1741-1450, in a game where they battled the first seven frames before pulling away. The first game was won 737-647 and then 728-577 in game two. They increased their lead in the baker games with scores of 153 and 123 to 83 and 143.

Pozderac spoke highly of Nastasi’s work she has put in this season.
“She currently averages a 219 in KMAC matches and led the team at Cardington with 185 and a 222,” Pozderac said. “Last week she bowled a 469 series against Fredericktown with games of 244 and 225.”
