Nazarenes worldwide are invited to participate in Love Your Neighbor, a service project scheduled for June 20-27, 2027, in Kansas City, according to an announcement on June 24. The event will coincide with the 31st General Assembly and Conventions.
Love Your Neighbor is collaborating with the Kansas City District to offer participants opportunities to engage in 25 different projects throughout the city. These include distributing food through local churches, church construction efforts, and volunteering at ShelterKC—a Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Center serving individuals experiencing homelessness. Additionally, organizers are working with the district to plant two new churches within Kansas City's urban core.
The name of the event draws from Matthew 22:37-40, where Jesus instructs his disciples: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” The passage continues as Jesus says that the second most important commandment is similar: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
For those unable to attend in person, Nazarenes around the world are encouraged to organize their own Love Your Neighbor events within their communities. Resources will be provided for local leaders who wish to set up similar events at their churches or districts. Teams participating locally are also invited to join General Assembly worship sessions via livestream.
Teams can pre-register online at nazarene.org/lyn. Individual registration opens in September 2026.
