The City of Mount Vernon announced on May 11 that a section of State Route 13, also known as North Sandusky Street, will be closed beginning at West Sugar Street and extending to West Burgess Street. The closure is scheduled to start on Monday, May 11, 2026, and will last for two days as part of a Community Development Block Grant Project.
According to the city, weather permitting, the intersection is expected to reopen on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. During this period, new utility lines will be installed in the area.
Residents seeking alternate routes during the temporary closure are advised to use suggested detours. For northbound traffic: US 36 to State Route 314 to State Route 95 and back to State Route 13. For southbound traffic: State Route 95 to State Route 314 to State Route 229 to US 36.
"Please check back to the City’s website (www.mtvernonoh.gov) and the City’s social media for updates as this project commences. The City thanks residents and commuters for their patience and cooperation during these essential infrastructure upgrades," the city said.
