Six bids ranging from $1.13 million to $1.55 million were opened by the Knox County Board of Commissioners during its June 18 meeting for construction of
Water and Wastewater department offices near Apple Valley.
According to a video recording of the meeting, Commissioner Bill Pursel opened the bids with Commissioner Barry Lester reading the bid amounts. Schrock of Loudonville, Ohio, had the apparent low bid at $1.13 million. The project's estimated cost was $1.1 million. Other bidders included: Classical Construction of Apple Valley at $1.18 million; Country View Construction of Holmesville at $1.2 million; Modern Buildings of Mount Vernon at $1.22 million; Fiorilli Construction of Richfield at $1.32 million; and Robertson Construction at $1.55 million, according to the meeting video.
The project will construct a new office building for the Knox County Water & Wastewater department near the entrance to Apple Valley, according to the meeting video. The project architect will review the documents to make sure each company submitted all required information and that nothing would disqualify a bidder, with results expected in about a week.
According to minutes from the Knox County Board of Commissioners, the purchase of land for the offices was approved by the board during its Aug. 12 meeting, with the county paying Thomas R. Hawk $142,500 for property located at 22000 Coshocton Road, Howard, Ohio, as reported by the Knox County Board of Commissioners.
