Families across Knox County will have the chance to prepare for the upcoming school year with financial assistance through the Back‑to‑School Voucher Application Event, scheduled for June 10, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The First Church of the Nazarene, 807 Coshocton Avenue, Mount Vernon.

The event, funded by Knox County Job & Family Services, helps local families offset back‑to‑school expenses by providing vouchers for eligible students.

Applications will be accepted on a first‑come, first‑served basis, serving families in the Mount Vernon, Centerburg, Fredericktown, East Knox, and Danville school districts. The program is designed to ensure that students ages 3 to 18 have the supplies and essentials they need to start the school year ready to learn.

To qualify, applicants must be residents of Knox County, meet income guidelines, and provide documentation verifying household information. Required materials include photo IDs for all adults, proof of residency such as a utility bill, and birth dates and Social Security numbers for each household member. These documents help confirm eligibility and ensure that assistance reaches families most in need.

Eligibility is determined by household size and monthly income. For a single‑person household, the limit is $2,660 per month, while a two‑person household may earn up to $3,795. Families of three must remain at or below $4,810, and households of four qualify with an income up to $5,825. Larger families are also covered, with thresholds set at $6,840 for five members, $7,855 for six, $8,870 for seven, and $9,287 for households of eight. These guidelines ensure that assistance reaches families most in need, helping children across Knox County begin the school year with the supplies and support they deserve.

After applications are processed, families will receive a postcard or email notification within 30 days detailing voucher pickup information. The distribution date will be announced later, allowing organizers to verify applications and prepare materials efficiently.

The event underscores Knox County’s commitment to supporting education and community well‑being. By helping families meet back‑to‑school costs, the program ensures that students can focus on learning rather than financial stress.

This initiative continues a tradition of community partnership, ensuring that every child in Knox County starts the school year equipped for success, because when students thrive, the entire community benefits.
