Students at Danville Local Schools will have a new opportunity to earn their driver’s education requirements without sacrificing after‑school time or juggling busy family schedules.

Through a partnership between Precision Driving School LLC and Danville Local Schools, a full Driver’s Education program will be offered during the school day for the 2026–27 school year, giving students a convenient and affordable path toward becoming safe, confident drivers.

The program is designed to meet students where they are, both academically and developmentally. To participate, students must be at least 15 years and 5 months old by the time classes begin. Importantly, students do not need a temporary permit to start the classroom portion, allowing them to begin learning the rules of the road before completing the BMV requirements for behind‑the‑wheel training.

Affordability is a central focus of the initiative. Families may apply for the Drive to Succeed Grant through the Educational Service Center (ESC), which can significantly reduce or fully cover the cost of the program for qualifying students. For those who do not meet grant criteria, payment plans are available, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent students from accessing essential driver training.

Offering driver’s education during the school day also removes common obstacles such as transportation to off‑site classes, scheduling conflicts with extracurricular activities, and the need for parents or guardians to coordinate additional evening or weekend commitments. By integrating the program into the school schedule, Danville Local Schools and Precision Driving School aim to create a smoother, more equitable path for students to gain the skills they need to drive safely and responsibly.

The partnership emphasizes student success, not only in meeting state driving requirements but also in preparing young people for greater independence. Learning to drive is a milestone that opens doors to jobs, extracurricular involvement, and community engagement, and this program is structured to support students through every step of that journey.

Students interested in enrolling for the 2026–27 school year should notify [email protected] by  Friday, April 24. Early communication helps the district plan class sizes and ensure that all eligible students have access to the training they need.

With its focus on accessibility, affordability, and student-centered scheduling, this new driver’s education option offers a promising road forward for Danville students preparing for their future behind the wheel.
