The Fredericktown FFA chapter reported on April 3 that it sent 15 members to the Ashland Invitational on March 21 to compete in the General Livestock and Wildlife Management Career Development Events.

The General Livestock team placed ninth out of 53 teams. The contest required participants to analyze livestock classes, make keep-cull decisions for breeding stock, and answer detailed questions based on their notes. Lane Dugan led the seven-member team with a 22nd place individual finish, followed by Allissya Dugan in 54th, Austin Robinson in 63rd, and Ella Bouton in 72nd out of a total of 208 participants. Carson Sanchez represented the middle school and finished in 26th place.

In the Wildlife Management division, Fredericktown’s middle school students earned second place overall as a team. Kyle Russell won first place individually, while Braylen Stone took third place. The Wildlife Management event required students to identify Ohio wildlife species and address economic scenarios related to conservation.

Chapter members said they are looking forward to seeing how each contest’s respective seasons will end and what final placings they will receive at the State Final Events for each Career Development Event.
