The Fredericktown FFA chapter participated in the Marysville Career Development Events (CDE) Invitational on March 7, bringing 15 members to compete across three different contests.
According to Austin Frazier, the students represented the chapter in General Livestock Judging, Equine Management, and Wildlife Management. The General Livestock team placed 34th out of 120 teams. In this event, members evaluated groups of livestock based on physical traits, ranked them accordingly, participated in a keep-cull class for breeding females, and answered related questions. Lane Dugan led the team with a 28th place individual finish out of 551 participants. Other contributors included Nash Stull (203rd), Kellen Algire (206th), Allissya Dugan (341st), Austin Robinson, Jordyn Neighbarger, Keith Rogers, and Austin Frazier. Middle school student Carson Sanchez placed 38th out of 93 in his division.
In Equine Management, Fredericktown's team finished 33rd among 54 schools. Members were tested on judging halter and performance classes as well as identifying tack equipment and evaluating hay quality. Reagan Blanchard took 84th place individually while Lily Hambleton finished in 91st.
Izzy Broerman represented Fredericktown as a one-person team in Wildlife Management CDE. This contest required knowledge of Ohio wildlife species and conservation problem-solving skills. Broerman’s performance earned the team a ranking of 27th overall with an individual placement of 53rd.
