The Utica track team finished its first meet with a bang. Both the boys and girls teams walked away from the quad at Northridge High School with a win on March 31.
On the girls' side, Camryn Baker won her distance races by a large margin. Madison Yates won the open 400 as well as the long jump. Katie Reed opened her season with a win and a PR of 119 feet in discus, and won hot-put with a throw of 37-8.
The girls claimed the top three in high jump, with Olive Ley at first, Bailey Yates at second, and Maddy Scarberry at third.
The Utica boys pulled through in the relays, with the 4x800, 4x200, and 4x400 teams running away with wins. Hunter McKinney and Andrew Bebout also claimed the top two in the open 400. McKinney won with a time of 52.21, and Bebout was close behind with a time of 52.63.
For the boys' field events, Hayden and Holden Quinif claimed first in their respective events, with Hayden winning pole vault and Holden winning high jump.
Thrower Deagan Workman walked away with more than a first and a PR. Workman broke the school record for boys shot put with a throw of fifty-two feet and an inch and a half.
