St. Paul’s Episcopal Church announced it will offer a preaching series during this year’s Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday on March 29 and continuing through Easter Sunday.
This marks the second year for the Holy Week offering at St. Paul’s. The church will host several guest preachers throughout the week. On Monday, March 30, the Rev’d Michael Bryan Tigner, rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Zanesville, will preach. Ms. Jennifer Potter Blue, a lay preacher from Grace Episcopal Church in Mansfield, is scheduled for Tuesday.
On Wednesday evening, Pastor Rick Graumlich, lead pastor of Proclamation Church in Mount Vernon, will deliver the sermon. The week continues with observances for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday led by St. Paul’s rector, Fr. Charles Wilson.
"St. Paul’s is glad to offer another year of varied voices sharing the Good news in the midst of a challenging week for Christians," Fr. Charles Wilson said. "Holy Week is a unique time in the Christian calendar with some light but darkness and painfulness. Even though Easter beckons, time spent praying and reflecting on how we get there can make our joyous Alleluias filled with meaning."
Fr. Wilson said these offerings are open to all members of the community and invited everyone to attend one or all services beginning at 6 p.m., held at St. Paul’s located at 101 East High Street in downtown Mount Vernon according to the official roster page.
