All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church of Bellville announced that Tim M. Berra, Ph.D., will deliver a lecture titled "The Moai of Rapa Nui (Easter Island)" on March 29 at 10:30 a.m.
The event will feature a PowerPoint presentation explaining the migration of Polynesians throughout the Pacific, their ancestor-worship religion, and details about the famous statues of Easter Island. The lecture will also address how and why the statues were carved, methods used to move them across the island, and various theories regarding the collapse of Easter Island society and population.
Berra holds a Ph.D. in Biology from Tulane University in New Orleans, earned in 1969. He is an Academy Professor and Professor Emeritus of Evolution, Ecology & Organismal Biology at The Ohio State University.
