The Utica girls wrestling team competed in the first-ever girls LCL wrestling tournament, placing fourth out of 10 teams, finishing only behind Licking Heights, Watkins, and Mount Vernon.

Hailey Wygle took first in her weight class to solidify her top spot in the LCL. Wygle placed ahead of Watkins’ Miley Carte and Heath’s Josy Nihiser.

Taleah Clark also won first in her division, an impressive feat for her freshman season. Clark beat out Granville’s Kasey Iden and Licking Heights' Shonya Ghimirey.

Joslyn Snyder placed second, losing only to Mount Vernon’s state champion,  junior Ashlynn Brokaw, and winning to Licking Heights' Claire Cannon.

Ainsley Kerstetter took third on the day, losing only to Licking Heights’ Lilli Seeman, and winning her matches against Lakewood’s Lexi Payne and Licking Valley’s Alaina Montgomery.

Brooklyn Macy placed fifth in her weight class, beating Lakewood’s Lilly Miller by pin.

Utica moves on to wrestle in the Pin-Down Showdown Girls at Delaware Hayes before competing in sectionals the following weekend at Marysville High School.
