The Utica girls wrestling team took home seventh out of twenty-nine teams at the competitive Maysville Panthers Girls Invitational.
The competition took place on February 8 at Maysville High School.
Ainsley Kerstetter won the lone first-place title for Utica. Kerstetter came out of her pool at second, going 1-1. In the finals, she came back and beat Chloe Pierce from Maysville after losing to her the first time.
Hailey Wygle pulled away with a second-place title, losing only to Kandice Spry, a senior from Tri-Valley High School who placed second in her weight class at states last year.
Taleah Clark also placed second, losing her last match and going 4-1 on the day.
Joslyn Snyder placed fifth in her weight class, which included a state champion and two state qualifiers. She went 2-3 on the day.
Brooklyn Macy placed fourteenth in her largely populated weight class, going 1-4 on the day.
Utica moves on to wrestle in the Licking County League Championships on February 14 at the Mount Vernon Fieldhouse.
