Mount Vernon Nazarene University's women's basketball team faced a challenging game against Huntington University, ending in a 76-59 defeat. The match took place at Ariel Arena on January 28, where the Lady Cougars initially struggled to keep up with the Foresters. Huntington University quickly established a five-point lead within the first three minutes.
Kylie Leibacher and Lily Shepherd scored early three-pointers for MVNU, but the team trailed by five points at the end of the first quarter. Naomi Keib's three-pointer at the start of the second quarter brought MVNU closer, reducing the gap to two points. A scoring run led by Angela Roshak helped MVNU take their first lead before halftime, finishing the half ahead 38-30.
The third quarter saw Huntington regain control, outscoring MVNU 25-9 and securing a 55-47 lead. The Foresters maintained their momentum in the fourth quarter, extending their advantage to 23 points with less than two minutes remaining.
Angela Roshak led MVNU with 15 points and six rebounds, while Lily Shepherd contributed 14 points. Melodie Blubaugh added 11 points for the Lady Cougars. Despite their efforts, Huntington dominated in rebounds and capitalized on turnovers.
Looking ahead, Mount Vernon Nazarene University will travel to Spring Arbor University for their next game on January 31.
