The Utica girls wrestling team took the trip up to New London High School to compete in the New London Ladycat Tournament, taking home third place out of twenty teams.

The tournament was held on January 18.

Hailey Wygle added another first place title to her season, winning all four of her matches by pin.

Taleah Clark, who is demonstrating her experience and skill for a freshman, also won first place. Clark won four out of five of her matches by pin, her first match being the only outlier.

Ainsley Kerstetter took third in her class, having only lost her first match of the day. The rest of her matches she took by pins, and none later than the first period.

Joslyn Snyder and Brooklyn Macy have the least experience out of the whole team. Snyder, a freshman who first joined the team in her eighth-grade year, and Macy, who is in her first year wrestling as a sophomore, have both proven that they can keep up with their teammates who have been wrestling much longer.

Snyder went 3-2 on the day and earned fifth place, while Macy went 1-3 and took sixth. Both wrestlers' weight classes are among the most competitive at almost every tournament they attend.

The team wrestles next on Feb. 8 at Maysville.
