East Knox Jr./Sr. High School is reminding seniors and their families to stay ahead of deadlines as scholarship season begins.

The Guidance Department has updated its Scholarship and Financial Aid page with new opportunities and is encouraging students to apply early. Assistance is available through the Guidance Office at 740-599-7000 ext. 2004.

Officials emphasize that early applications and organization are critical to easing stress and meeting requirements, encouraging families to work together on a plan before deadlines arrive.

"Completing scholarship applications early is especially important, as many opportunities have limited deadlines and may require recommendation letters, transcripts, or essays, "officials said in the January edition of The Bulldog Blitz. "Applying ahead of time reduces stress during the busy spring semester and ensures students don't miss out on potential funding as graduation draws closer."

In addition to financial aid reminders, the school is launching a new sustainability initiative that doubles as a fundraiser. A Clothes Bin recycling container has been installed on the east end of the high school, allowing families to donate gently used clothing and shoes.

For every pound of items collected, the school receives 10 cents. The program accepts a wide range of textiles, including pants, shirts, coats, footwear, undergarments, accessories, handbags, and linens.

Administrators say the effort helps keep textiles out of landfills while directly supporting East Knox students.

"Cleaning out your closets has never been an easier way to help our students," the flyer reads.

Donations for the Clothes Bin program can be dropped off at the designated container on campus.

More information on scholarships is available through the Guidance Department's webpage.
