Knox County Career Center students recently participated in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Region IV competition, held on December 5. Students from various programs at KCCC, including Computer Network Technology, CollegeU-Business, Digital Media and Software Development, and Pre-Professional Mentorship, competed against peers from Delaware Hayes High School, Delaware Area Career Center, Highland High School, and Tri-Rivers Career Center.

The BPA is a career technical student organization that offers competitions in fields such as Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communications and Design, Management, Marketing and Communications, and Health Administration. On December 12, the BPA State Qualifiers for Region 4 were announced during an awards ceremony at the Willis Education Center in Delaware. A total of 40 KCCC students qualified for the state competition in 23 events.

Keyara Murphy, BPA Region IV Director said: "The students did a great job competing in the BPA Region IV competition. All students prepared in different ways; reviewed resources for tests and created projects using specific software. All contests were scored by a professional from the content area. Students apply and improve life skills through these competitions." She added: "As an alumnus, I love what this organization offers to students. It was life-changing for me as a student, and I know it can be for current students as well. We wish the best to the students who are proceeding to compete at the State and potentially the BPA National Level."

The Knox County Career Center Schools will see its qualifying students head to Columbus for the state competition on February 23-24.
