All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church of Bellville is hosting a special event on Sunday, December 21, 2025. The service will take place at 10:30 AM and feature speaker Christopher Reynolds. His presentation, titled "Winter Solstice: Phoenix Fire of Love's Rebirth," will explore the Gaelic meaning of "Nowell" as "New Sun." Reynolds suggests that people are psychologically connected to the four seasons through sensation, emotion, thought, and intuition about the future.
The event aims to provide a symbolic experience where participants can engage in the metaphorical death and rebirth of love and life during a winter solstice fire ceremony. This gathering is intended to reflect an inner psychological reality. Joseph Campbell once described this type of experience as requiring courage to let go of past truths and goals in order to be reborn within.
Following the service, there will be an annual Potluck and Winter Solstice Sacred Fire Ceremony at Sacred Stones Mystical Farm starting at 1:00 PM. The event coincides with the Fourth Sunday of Advent.
