St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio, is organizing two special services in December. The first event, a Blue Christmas Service, will take place on December 17 at 6 p.m. This service aims to provide solace for those who find the holiday season challenging. Fr. Charles Wilson, the church's rector, explained that the service acknowledges "the 'both/and' of our emotions" and offers "space for pastoral care and compassionate community for those who are struggling." The event will be held at St. Paul's located at 101 East High Street.

The second event is a Service of Light on the Longest Night, scheduled for December 21 as part of the Winter Solstice observance. This service symbolizes hope during darker times and begins after sunset at 4 p.m., marking the longest night of the year. Fr. Wilson said that "as darkness falls, our prayers will be filled with the hope and promise the light bears." The community is invited to participate in this gathering featuring cider and snacks.
